Here is a Short Video that shows how I walk and preview homes when we are under contract with new construction. The Construction process varies from builder to builder and in all cases the construction area can be filled with dirt, nails and new cement in driveways. Most of the time the areas are walkable and I encourage my clients to walk their own home so that they can stay informed of the process. This is a great time to see the home before sheet rock goes up so that they see the 2x4's and the wiring. Once the sheet rock and drywal goes up you can nolonger see behind the walls. Most builders have a checkpoints and third party inspection companies that verify the work progress for the builder so that they do not miss anything or get something wrong. Ask your builders if you can walk your home at every stage and what kind of check point system they have to verify their progress.
